GPX Activities uploaded no longer have length/distance

Since the Garmin Connect website downtime yesterday (12/19/14), GPX file uploaded as activities no longer interpret the correct mileage length, or associated calculations. Time and elevation appear to be known, but not distance.

Anyone else see this?

Thanks
  • Same for me, distance and all what is related to it.
  • Same problem with distance and velocity... (Etrex30) with manually .gpx upload in GC...

When Garmin gives a solution for that?

    Regards from Spain
  • Garmin International got in touch with me via email today, replying to the query I lodged with them on December 29.

"Thank you for contacting Garmin International. I'm happy to assist you with the errors on the .GPX files. Can you send us the files themselves in an attachment response so we can do some troubleshooting? With third party files, there is no guarantee that they will all function properly. Are you having this issue on every gpx file you are uploading, or very particular ones?"

I replied with "I've only uploaded two files and I've had issues with both - they are attached. Previously I've had no issues with moving GPX files from Strava to Garmin Connect."

Fingers crossed. Will keep y'all posted if they get back to me before it's officially resolved.
  • golden cheetah, not web based but a very feature rich analysis and tracking tool aimed at cyclists because of its power and cadence data capabilities in addition to heart rate.

Wow!! This program seems great!!! What a pity that is bike oriented only... Thank you very much, I'll keep searching!
  • BTW, the Garmin Connect is working again and our problem is still unresolved...
  • Just a "me too" post to say I have the same issue. Personally I'm not overly concerned as I don't use GC for my record keeping - I just upload here as it pushes to both Strava and FetchEveryone meaning i have one fewer upload to do - and the error doesn't appear to impact on exports / feeds to other services.

But it is annoying and should be fixed!!
  • Unbelievable....

Any feedback for Garmin´s Service Technician..???

I wrote this morning to Spain Service Technician with the problem... i´am waiting for an answer or feedback...

  • Addendum: Today I tried to upload tracks from my Garmin Foretrex 401. The same result: the tracks are shown with 0 or 0.01 distance in Garmin Connect.
Tried direct upload (Garmin Communicator Plugin), manual upload, upload via Garmin BaseCamp and send to Connect. Tracks are displayed correctly in BaseCamp.

Switched settings in Garmin Connect from Metric to Statute and Statute UK - no change.

Guys, that seems to be a serious bug!
  • Just tested this morning again - still useless, going for three weeks now.

This might very well be the tipping point to commit to an alternative, stable platform rather.

(And no 'sticky' even to communicate the status of this issue to us, the Garmin customers?)
  • Thought I'd add my name to the list so I can hear if it gets fixed! I noticed this issue today; I was looking at some old activities and noticed the maps aren't displaying properly (see https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?185016). These are ones I uploaded from GPX files prior to getting my Edge 500. I thought I'd try re-uploading after exporting from Strava and, although the map's ok, the distance etc as you've all already mentioned is wrong. Due to illness I haven't been able to upload anything direct from my Edge to make sure that still works ok!
