GPX Activities uploaded no longer have length/distance

Since the Garmin Connect website downtime yesterday (12/19/14), GPX file uploaded as activities no longer interpret the correct mileage length, or associated calculations. Time and elevation appear to be known, but not distance.

Anyone else see this?

Thanks
  • Me too. i'm starting to believe it won't get solved. My answer when someone asks me about Garmin devices would be to not buy it, because after you get it they don't care anymore.
Reminder: Garmin Connect it's an spec of any garmin device I have.
  • The Same Problems here,
When manually importing GPX data from my dakota 20, the distance , average and maximum speed not shown in Garmin Connect.
When are you finally do something about it ?

    Edwin,
    former satisfied Garmin Connect user
  • Uh, it's been almost two months now, and the problem still hasn't been fixed. Garmin is "aware of the issue" and supposedly a "critical" ticket is up -- which makes it all the more shocking that we're still suffering with this stupid bug. Garmin makes half decent hardware but there aren't words in any language to adequately describe how terrible their software and online applications are. Truly, they suck beyond belief.
  • Uploads of workouts via Garmin Express from my Fenix 2 Works fine, but when I use my handheld (GPSMap 64s) and upload as GPX (I usually clean up the tracks from hiking trips in MapSource or Basecamp, and therefore upload manually, instead of via the Garmin Express program), the distance always become 0,01 km!!!! Also, if I remember correctly, Garmin Connect used to pull out both total time and moving time from the GPX file (and one could manually edit this as well?), while now there is only one time: Total time. If I have had a break during the hiking trip, the average speed is completely wrong of course. So uploading GPX files, or manually entering workouts, is just a mess. Will this ever be fixed?
  • Going on several months now. I suspect Garmin outsourced the development of this software out of house..... Garmin used to develop all stuff in house but I know this changed over the past couple of years.

Or maybe Garmin realizes they have a monopoly on handheld units and thus has no incentive to fix the problem.
  • According to http://www.garmin.com/en-US/company/leadership/executives/ Ed Link is the Vice President, Information Technology.

Will see if I can get a tweet to him via Garmin.
  • Garmin Oregon 450.
Hello forum moderator. I clicked at Status link acknowledging issue as "we are aware of that" and as "will be resolved very soon". This acknowledgment is from "01-21-2015, 08:13 PM". It is 02-07-2015 today and it is still not fixed (see e.g http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/691777914). So come on! What is going on in 17 days ? :(

You are too kind. This thread begins on 12-19 and will shortly have 9,000+ views. Pretty soon it's going to be a movement.
  • It seems Garmin operations/support is all over the place with this issue. The Garmin Connect status page shows a status of 'limited' for Activity Details but only acknowledges that elevation corrections are turned off. This forum has identified the issues around length/distance of uploaded activities since Dec. 19 but so far, nowhere (including Garmin's support blog) do we have any idea whether and when this will be addressed. That's a shame - I have several Garmin devices (etrex 30, Fenix 2, and Vivosmart) but I am finally fed up. Every product (it seems) and every application (Connect, Express, BaseCamp) is unreliable. I'm done.
  • Hi, I'm new to Garmin Connect and have an Etrex30 and HRM (cycling & walking).
What a disappointment to see all the problems you've been having for quite a while.
I'd have thought Garmin would be so publicly embarrassed that they'd fix this quickly, but I guess they've got other priorities (lunch?).
    Here's hoping...
