GPX Activities uploaded no longer have length/distance

Since the Garmin Connect website downtime yesterday (12/19/14), GPX file uploaded as activities no longer interpret the correct mileage length, or associated calculations. Time and elevation appear to be known, but not distance.

Anyone else see this?

Thanks

I had the same problem with 0.00 distance when I imported my *.gpx files to Garmin Connect. After I used GARMIN viewer LITE from Play Store for smartphones, everything was OK. Look there:

It's so annoying. I am really thinking of kicking off Garmin Connect. Strava site is much faster anyway. The only thing that kept me on GC was the nice search filter. So if I was looking for a ride for 2h or 40km it was easy to find one. But with a lot of 0.2km and 0.3km rides (in reality 25 or 34km of course), I can forget that.
    So, bye bye.
  • Same issue here, upload my gpx from my Garmin units, shows 0.01 miles ridden, then locks completely up when I try to manually edit the data.

It was not doing this prior to last month....

Add to this all my existing GPX imports in Garmin Connect are now missing the map and calorie data. (these go back to Feb 2013)
When I try to add the GPX back in again it imports with no distance, speed, pace or calories or map.

Have just moved to the 920XT and this part of the experience is a real let down.
  • Same here with the map and calorie data (I mentioned the map stuff in my earlier comment with reference to the thread I created here: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?185016). Interestingly though, I went through all my old uploads and brought up the menu to export the GPX for each one. Once the "Save as" box (or whatever) came up I cancelled it, refreshed the page, and the map was back. It didn't help the calories stuff though; that's still missing.

    This is absolutely annoying.

I noticed this first by mid-December and manually edited that activity in Connect to reflect the real data. Now, just returning from a short vacation and uploading all my pending activities to Connect from my Oregon 450 without any distance/speed information.

I'm seriously considering to move to an alternative like Strava. Anyone knows any easy way to migrate my +/- 500 GPX activity files from Connect to any alternative site?

Hi, there a nice way to sync Garmin Connect with Strava: tapiriik.com (it is free and works very well). I am also thinking on saying good bye to Connect. Garmin is not reliable any more...

Tapiriik can sync following sites (the list is growing from month to month): endomondo, Garmin Connect, DropBox, Strava, RunKeeper, SportTracks, Motivato, Training Peeks, Ride with GPS, VeloHero, TrainerRoad, EpsonRunSense. It is really good.
  • Strava has a built in capability to connect directly to Garmin Connect. It works. The automatically imported data are perfect...and corrupted on the GC interface. I really don't understand what is happening to GC!! Bye bye Garmin Connect

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are working to resolve this issue at this time and apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. Thank you again for your continued patience as we work to restore Garmin Connect to its full capacity.
