GPX Activities uploaded no longer have length/distance

Since the Garmin Connect website downtime yesterday (12/19/14), GPX file uploaded as activities no longer interpret the correct mileage length, or associated calculations. Time and elevation appear to be known, but not distance.

Anyone else see this?

Thanks

Garmin connect website activities showing zero length distances

UPDATE: Whoops, just saw the earlier thread, please ignore this post in favor of the earlier one.

Just uploaded a snowshoeing trip of 5km, the activity on Garmin Connect shows a distance of 0.01 km and an average speed of 0 km.hr. The track quite clearly shows the entire trip, and when I look at the GPX file in Garmin Basecamp the distance and average speeds are reasonable values.

Looking back through my older activities in Garmin Connect I see bicycle trips and hikes are now also showing zero length trips. These trips are all round trips (i.e. start and stop at the same point) if that's significant.

Any thoughts on what's happening here?

Sigh. I'm really starting to hate Garmin Connect, time to switch to Strava or something that works.

    Hello,
I've found a way to upload in GC my activity recorded with my old Vista C.
I use the application "Garmin Viewer Lite" on my Androïd smartphone.
    • I download my activity from my GPS device and convert it in gpx format.
    • I tranfert the gpx file into my smartphone
    • Using "Garmin Viewer Lite" I sent the activity to GC.
    • After I edit the activity in GC.

    An exemple:

I hope this tip will help some of you.

Your comment 'Garmin Express is not compatible with Etrex or mountaineering devices' (which I assume means handhelds) is wrong ... Express works with pretty much every Garmin GPS.

Wrong, my Etrex Vista C is not compatible with Garmin Express.

The comment was in reply to someone with an Etrex 30, not a Vista C. I know some older devices aren't compatible, hence the comment 'with pretty much every Garmin GPS' :)

Thanks for acknowledging the issue. The forum was getting pretty worried due to lack of any official response :)

    Thanks... SMESHANE:)
  • Thanks for your trouble Garmin - any idea when this functionality will be restored perhaps?

(BTW I suggest your team run through a basic test battery after changes are effected in future. I mean, to take two weeks to 'discover' a bug such as this? )

This is the only way I can use to upload my tracks as I gave up on Garmin Express to sync activities from my OR650. (Even on GE V3.2.26.0)

    Thanks

    I agree with Pietero.

I cannot understand how a bug big like a T-Rex needs two weeks to be discovered, even when so many people is complaining on their own (of Garmin) forum...

Now, finally, somebody tells that Garmin team has been informed. It looks like they rarely read their own forum but also they rarely read users' emails.

In any case, still no information about when a solution will be provided has been given.
