Auto Naming of Activity - What's in a name?

I imagine it must be part of the place name. I haven't seen DC in my activities.

Where does the default Activity Name come from?

As of 2 days ago there was no default, I had to manually assign the Activity Name after import.

Now it defaults. It looks like City + Primary Activity.

Is this true? Is it configurable?

I would like to know the same thing.

I also get Homeplacename DC Running. I didn't know what it means. Interestingly when I have completed some runs at other places, I have not got Placename DC running, just Placename Running.

There are a lot of threads on this subject - the naming I think is dependent very much on your country/province...

I'm in the UK and live in a town called Farnham - if I go for a run here then the default name for the activity is Farnham Running which makes sense even if not awfully useful to me :)

If I run in Aldershot - a town about 5 miles away from me then depending on exactly where I run in Aldershot I will mostly get St Marks Ward Running - which means nothing to me or any other local - I'm led to believe that this is a local electoral boundary for local council elections but as a day-to-day geographical location it is meaningless.

I personally would prefer the option to turn Auto-naming off as it adds nothing - even if it were consistent and accurate (which it isn't - I've seen a number of form posts where peoples activities are placed in a location in another country) then it's value add is very limited as most people I would expect to edit their activity names once uploaded.
