How Do I Turn Off Auto-Naming Of Activities?

I don't like it.
  • So you'd be perfectly happy if the auto-naming continued provided that it accurately determined the name of the area that you were when you started recording your activity?

Yes Travis, i like the feature but if the location is accurate.
By the way, when running near home, it tags the activities as "Florida Estafeta Running" , i still don't know what or where its Florida Estafeta, has no sense, is not a near or known place, even if you google it, theres nothing in Buenos Aires with that name, it isn't a Neighborhood, it isnt a City, neither a Restaurant!
I swear that i cant figure out how they decided to use that name.

And of course, having the option to turn it off should be interesting.

Yes, please give us the option.

I much prefer "Untitled" to the very obviously inaccurate titles now automatically generated.

It seems that the scheme is <Location> <ActivityType>. Even if the location is unspecified or incorrect it is still not meaningless. Inaccurate maybe, but certainly not meaningless. It seems that in most cases it is better than the previous behavior of using Untitled as the activity name.

That said, there is no option to disable the automatic naming.

Functionality as such is great. BUT execution is horrible. You're writing 'inaccurate maybe' - in my case I have titles for loaction from ANOTHER COUNTRY - from a place that is something like 300km away from where I actually do my workouts. I contacted support, they suggested me to clear browser cache - not sure how it can be related with naming of workouts but still after clearing cache nothing changed. Hopefully some solution will be provided.

Someone suggested that it's easy to change it to untitled or something else - come on! it's like now android would make an update that all backgrounds for devices now on midnight will change to bright yellow because someone asked for it but those who don't like - well you can always change it back to what you like. every day. because it's easy.

Is anyone from Garmin reading this? Can we have an option on the website to turn off the auto-naming feature?
  • still don't know what or where its Florida Estafeta, has no sense, is not a near or known place, even if you google it, theres nothing in Buenos Aires with that name, it isn't a Neighborhood, it isnt a City, neither a Restaurant!

    Really? Florida Estafeta

Just for information - as it appears in connect.garmin.com I'm still working out in neighbouring country, some 300km away from actual location
  • I think the option to turn it off would be best. The naming at present in the UK uses names that I think are based on local council wards so many of the names that are applied are correct but not names that are used normally to refer to the location in day to day conversation.

My Garmin swim seems to be a poor relation as it still gets activities labelled as untitled whereas they could at least be tagged as Swim date and time
  • Wrong Country

I would prefer to name my own workouts after the workout has finished, and before upload.

I live in El Salvador, but some strange name from Guatemala always appears - very annoying!

    Please sort this out Garmin.
  • Really? Has no one thought to change the setting for their account in Garmin Connect? On my Garmin Connect it's under Head and Shoulders > Settings > Display Preferences.

It can be Location and Type or Untitled. On mine it even says that names based on location may not be accurate for all areas.
