New Gear Feature - Unable to enter new brand name & model

I keep getting error messages every time I try to add gear (shoes) that need a new brand & model that isn't in the pulldown list. Since the pulldown list is incomplete, i am unable to add shoes that aren't current in the list, therefore making this feature only useable part of the time. Please ensure that users can add their own brand names & models for shoes OR make sure ALL shoe brands and models (not just 4 or 5 models) are listed. thanks.
  • Same problem here, though I get the error message after entering my shoes data manually without having any pulldown list available??
  • I'm getting "Sorry, we were unable to process your request. Please try again." when adding my shoes. It's not working.
  • I'm getting "Sorry, we were unable to process your request. Please try again." when adding my shoes. It's not working.

I was able to add two pairs of shoes early today, with neither marked as "automatically add to activity". Went out and did a couple miles today, synced, and the activity shows up in the activity widget. The widget now has a new icon that looks like a shoe, and when I click on it, I get the list of the two pair, but when I select one of them, I get the same error message. Don't know if it's related, but the route I took contains one segment, and GC also failed to note that I'd crossed the segment.
  • I was able to add Salomon Speedcross 3 and Inov8 Mudclaw 330 shoes but not Nike Air Pegasus+ 30. I started with the Nikes and thought it might be related to using numerals. But even using "Nike Air Pegasus" does not work. I do notice that the text entry box comes up with a number of pre-populated choices when I type "Nike." That does not happen with the Salomons and Inov8s. Can't help but notice that Nike is a much more common brand than Inov8 or Salomon for running and I'm wondering whether the number of entries by users for a brand or shoe has something to do with this!

Other than that, I love the fact that Garmin is finally adding this. Long overdue! GC is much improved since the release of the "modern" version. Keep it coming, Garmin! How about better categories next, e.g. for Nordic skiing or orienteering?

    same here
  • Yes, seems there's some issue with the Brand&Model if you enter something very similar to an existing drop-down choice. I couldn't enter Mizuno Wave Inspire (they have other Wave series but not the Inspire) but I could enter "Wave Inspire". Same for another pair; it'd take "ASICS Gel-Kayano" or "Gel-Kayano 19" but not "ASICS Gel-Kayano 19"

Easily worked around I guess, but confusing.
  • I have now 4 times the New Balance 890 in my "other" gear section.
    Can't edit or delete them.

tried several ways to enter the data.
  • It looks like you have to select from the predefined entries in the drop down if you put in a recognised brand. So I can enter "Kayanos" and it says "Asics GEL-Kayano". I can't enter "Asics DS Trainers" but I can enter "DS Trainers Asics".

I seem to fall from one problem into the other. I cannot add gear. I wanted to add my new running shoes, and it Won't let me. Why not? This whole Garmin experience is beginning to frustrate me more and more. I deliberately choose Garmin over other brands because of the market-leader name. It is not going well thus far.
