Hi...I have searched forums etc for a solution to this so apologies of the answer is out there, as this does seem like a basic problem. I know that the 310xt is little better than a stopwatch but as a beginner training for Triathlons its functionality should be enough.
I am lap swimming indoors min a 25M pool and basically want to record each length (laps) and the total calories buned. At first i tried to do this by setting the watch to "other" mode (i enabled swimming but that's pointless indoors). I would swim a length and press "lap" followed by start/stop, the idea here was to stop the timer while i recover...i am a beginner :-). I would then press the start button again and set off on lap 2...and continue this process until finished.
I upload to Garmin connect...I change the activity to lap swimming and I enter in the:
- Distance
- Pool Length
- Calories (which I have to work out of a separate website)
My problem is that the device has recorded each lap but that information doesn't come over to garmin connect.
I set up workouts to try and see if that would work...so I set up a workout as folows:
- Workout Type "Other"
- 1st Step: "Other" for distance of 0.025km (this rounds annoyingly to 0.02Km) with no target set
- 2nd step "interval" until lap press with no target (this is just the time between laps)
- I set this up with numerous repeats.
I came home this evening and uploaded to garmin connect and it still does not show the lap times etc. So in the end my questions are:
- How can i record the timing for each 25M length (or lap for when I start doing straight 50M and 100M laps)
- Should garmin conect not be calculating calories automatically
- Was the way in which i set up the workouts wrong?
I would really appreciate any help that could be offered on this as I genuinely cannot find "exactly" what i need anywhere on garmin searches (or google searches for that matter).
Thanks in advance people.
