Vivosmart; "Sync Failed -- Server Error"

Former Member
Former Member
Had no problems during the first week of use. Yesterday I received the message "Sync Failed -- Server Error" every time a sync was attempted. I unpaired/paired and that seemed to work (after several attempts, and after a couple of hours). The same issue began today. Not sure if the problem lies with the app, the vivosmart, or a Garmin server somewhere. This is getting a little frustrating...
  • Chances are the message is correct and it's a sync server issue at Garmin. The server itself or the path through the internet to the garmin servers could be the cause. This happens even the sync servers are offline for maintenance, etc.

The best thing to do, is to do nothing, and retry again an hour or so later.

I've been getting this error for 8-10 hours today. It synced once in there, but that's it. Still think it's a server error, or should I call support?

Having this same issue today as well.

    found this on another thread

    "Sync issues with Garmin Connect"
Currently Garmin is aware of problems with Garmin Express syncing fitness device data with Garmin Connect. The Connect Servers are at the heart of the problem. It is being addressed and should be resolved later this evening or early tomorrow."

If a bunch of us are seeing it, then it might very well be an issue with Garmin's servers. I think I'll call them to see if they're aware of it though...

Same issue with me as well. Can't sync at all. Has anyone tried syncing with computer?

GC has been having sync issues today, and no one can sync from computer or mobile. Try again in a couple hours.

Garmin connect has been having issues all day. The site was down for a while, and no one can sync (any garmin device) right now. I'm sure Garmin is working on it. LOTS of people just got new devices over the holidays, which adds to the load, and many new users want to sync pretty often. Once people get used to things, the "sync requests" will slow down, and things will get more stable. (The Garmin Trackers hold about 30 days of data, so even if you go a few days without syncing, it's not a big deal)

As a side note, Polar Flow (the GC equivalent for Polar Devices) and Misfit (the Misfit Shine and Flash) seem to be having similar issues today. Everyone is experimenting with their new trackers before they go back to work on Monday!

Is there any sign of it working anytime soon? I was worried it was a FIT file error!

There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect

It is more than a couple of weeks this issue has been existing for me. Sometime it syncs sometimes doesnt. Even thought the Last refresh time gets updated the data is not getting synced. Is there any way to overcome this error message?
