Splits

Is there a way to get splits after a ride when I haven't to hit the split button while out riding i.e. look at max and average heart rates for a section/hill/effort of a ride?
Ive tried making a segment but it doesn't seem to gave my data for just the segment? could just be user error?

Segment data for cycling consists of time/speed/HR(average I assume)/power/cadence. You could always find max heart rate by looking the HR graph for the appropriate time range.
  • Many of the other fitness sites like mapmyride.com strava.com ridewithgps.com and others allow you to mark splits/laps after the fact. Garmin Connect does not and it's up to you to configure your device to mark them. GC might do it one day, but why wait. I use the free service of multiple sites. Each site invariably shows a particular aspect of my activity better than the others, so it's worth it to me to upload to them too.

IMO, Strava and MapMyRide do segments better than GC.

    No split data displayed

I have the same issue with GC's lack of splits. Many of the other apps automatically mark splits at the mile or km depending on units of measure. When I import a run, the data does not display, but when mapmyfitness pulls the newly imported data fromGC the splits are still there, it just seems that split information is not displayed correctly in GC. This would be one of the last features I would need to allow me to stop using several other apps for fitness tracking. Thanks
  • Does your device not mark splits/laps? Many of the Garmin fitness devices do mark them and many will allow you to set whether it's marked at a specific interval or whenever you press the lap/split button. If you have one of these devices then Garmin Connect will show the split/lap data. If GC is not showing the splits, then possibly the feature is disabled on your device or you device doesn't mark splits/laps.

I guess it's a matter of what you think is responsible for marking them. I used to mark specific locations as I was riding to use as splits with my edge500. Garmin Connect correctly showed those locations. So for those using their device as I was and sometimes still do, mapmyride and others would be showing the regular interval splits that they calculated, and GC would be showing the correct data I want.

With the increased ability to subset out a segment or segments from the actual track, the use of splits and laps are less useful for me.
