920XT doesn't automatically sync to Garmin Connect iOS8 App

So, I hope the Garmin Connect app on my iPhone; and under devices its says my 920XT is connected. But, the app never syncs with my watch. Or, it syncs unpredictably. Two questions:

1) What triggers a sync?
2) What can I do to force a sync?

Same issue for me.
Have latest firmware on 920xt (2.50) andSony Xperia Z3c.
Funnily as I write this it just uploaded but not sure why the long delay.
I also often have to re-pair the bluetooth connection and type in the six digit code.

Generally loving the watch and a step up from my 910xt which went missing conveniently before Xmas....

This happens to me all of the time. The way I found to force sync it is to unpair and repair the device from the phone Bluetooth device list.
