Garmin Connect + vivofit posting wrong step counts

Has anyone else seen this? At the end of yesterday, my Vivofit showed something over 16000 steps. (I didn't remember the exact number.) Today, I synced, and only 6972 steps are shown. This is not the first time I've seen this, and it's playing havoc with my records.

First, how to prevent it?

Second, how to fix the totals that are there?

A basic question. How many steps did actually you do? 16000 or 6972? Could it be you misread the number on the VF?

Also, is the time correct on your VF? Could it be the time is off or you have it set for AM when it should be PM, for example? That could mess up your steps for a given day.

There is no way to edit your step data in GC, as only steps reported by the VF itself are considered valid.

I actually did 16000--active day, plus a 3 miles run in the am, and a 2 mile walk in the pm.

I see no way to set the time explicitly in the VF. It syncs with my computer (correct time) and my phone (obviously correct time).

    I'm still stumped.

Me too. I'm using a forerunner 920xt and on the device you can see the step counts for the last week. The numbers dont agree with that uploaded to connect. For example yesterday was 20K steps but connect says ony 16141 steps.

    Anybody?
