Batch upload weight data

Hi,

I have a few years of weight data that I can put in any format. (XLS, CSV, TXT)
Is there a way I can batch upload this to Garmin Connect to get all my historical data in GC?

The only way that I know of is to use the Garmin Connect API. There is a service for posting your weight, date and unit of measure, but it isn't well documented and nobody I know has provided anything to use it. I have a few scripts for sending/receiving data from Garmin Connect. I might be able to tweak one of them to do what you are looking for.

That's awesome of you to offer! These are python scripts right? I did some quick perusing of the API and thought I saw that. It sounds like it would be an interesting project.
I wouldn't want you to spend any time on this. Would you be able to share the scripts with me?

I couldn't help myself. I went ahead and wrote it and then uploaded it here. You'll need to use a python-3.x interpreter, but that shouldn't be a problem. The input file is expected to have three columns of data with a header row. I uploaded a sample file here.

Hi Travis,

I finally started to play with this tonight. Wow! Very cool I am having some fun.
however, I am getting an error on line 69.

request = urllib.request.Request(url, data)
NameError: name 'data' is not defined

I am trying to figure out what "data" might be in the script, but don't see anything. Does it need to be declared or defined before passed to the Request function?

If I change the word data for params, it passes that point in the script, but then breaks later. So, I am guessing that might not be it.

I realize this thread is old, but the underlying problem remains for anyone migrating to Garmin. Travis, would you be willing to repost your script?

I wish Garmin would make the api properly available for personal use ...

I think you can import weight data via CSV now.

Cool, thanks for sharing. I've also participated in a thread on the garminconnect python website where there is some code that works.
