Course creator, OpenStreetMap Stay On Road ignores bicycle path

Hi all,

Today I tried to map a course using OpenStreetMap since it is seems way more accurate then the Google Map.
I checked Stay on the Roads, since you get straight lines when you do not. The problem I experience in Internet Explorer 11 and FireFox 33 is that it stays on the "car legal roads" where I want it to use at least the bicycle paths.

The arrows at the image above show where I clicked for the starting point and the first track point, resulting in the start and finish point shown with the green and red pin. Google does it correct but as said it is less accurate in my area.

Are there others experiencing the same issue and if you are not, can you share the name of the browser you are using?
  • It's not a browser but a map issue not having those paths as 'routeable'.

That is strange since sites like Openrouteservice do route using bicycle paths.

You can even choose whether you'd like a bike or walk route.
  • In that case it'll probably be that 'stay on road' isn't compatible with the routing detail assigned to those tracks/trails. Either way I doubt it's a browser issue. I suggest you contact OpenStreetMap and see what they say.

Lets hope that Garmin will solve it then :-)
  • I don't think it's anything Garmin can solve ... if it's a map issue it's the map creator who would have to solve it.

Interesting. You don't think Garmin can Solve it, if it is a map issue.
If it is a map issue, that's correct, but what if it is not?...

Since other sites seem to work just fine, I seems way more likely that the implementation of Garmin is not working.
It might be by design, for example when the technical implementation is to far of the design standards, but then it is still not a map issue.

Case closed if you ask me. Thanks for your prompt replies!
