Monterra: Garmin outdoor application

Former Member

I purchase a Monterra in April 2014. It has never worked correctly, in fact I now have received my first replacement from Garmin to see if the problem is the same on another machine. It is.

I use it for Geocaching and mountain walking.
Whenever I get involved with looking at 'waypoints' the Garmin outdoor application closes down, and I have to wait until it has re-initialised. At that point, the tracking will have stopped and them reatarted again leaving a gap in the recorded track. Also I will find that all the descriptions and logs in my geocaching file will have disappeared, not the geocaches themselves, only the details. I am then left unable to efficiently locate geocaches until I return to be able to reload them from the computer. Almost every time I use 'waypoint manager now on 2 different 'Monterras' the application closes.

Lots of other little problems, for instance though I can set the correct time on the unit, all files show only as 'Grenwich mean time', although on the screen it shows correctly as ther time zone I am in.

Anybody got any comments or ideas? Garmin certainly do not seem to have any.

The software on this product needs a lot of work, and it is very slow in coming.
