No 1K/5K record compiled

Hello, I need help understanding or setting up Garmin connect to show my record for 1K and 5K run. I use a Garmin Tactix watch to record data while I run and no run record for 1K or 5K have been compiled. When connected to Garmin Connect I can see my longest run but the 1K and 5K fields are empty.
What is wrong, do I have to instruct Garmin connect or my watch to compiles run time record?

thank you for your help

  • If you look at the image you posted, you'll see a little question mark icon near the words Records personnels. Click that icon for a description of how the personal records system works. If you have questions after that, post here and I'll try to answer them.
  • Hi Travis.vitek, I knew about all this and none of my activities were modified so they should be looked at as personal new records whenever this is the case. As you can see on the image I posted, my longest distance was compiled as a personal record without any intervention from me, I've been running for two months with my new watch and most of the distance I do every time I run are over 5k but no personal records for that distance has ever been compiled, same for 1k and 10k. The only data compiled as personnal record is the distance I run.

To get a 5k PR, you have to do a 5k activity (with a small margin of error). You don't get a 5k PR if you do a 6k run, for example. And even if you do a 5k, you have to be pretty close to 5k to get it marked automatically (for example, I did a "5k" that was 3.07 miles, when a 5k is 3.1 miles, and i had to make it a PR manually.
  • Yes, exactly what Jim said above. Obviously you didn't click the question mark icon like I suggested.

For those that are having difficulty figuring this out, here is the text that appears when you click the icon.

How does Garmin Connect determine a Personal Record?

Personal Records are created when you upload data that closely matches one of our predetermined distances, and it's the fastest time you've ever uploaded for that distance.

You don't have to exactly match a distance, but it must be close. (For example, a Half Marathon Personal Record may be created if your activity is 13.2 miles.)

Connect only scans for a Personal Record the first time an activity is uploaded, so an edited activity won't be listed as a Personal Record.

As I said before I knew about the way Garmin Connect evaluates PR. I knew it from the start and since It wasn't working even with near 5k run, I decided to ask for help. For a quick check I did yesterday another run near 5K, 5.09 km to be precise, which is pretty close to 5k run, but again no PR was recorded. As I said most of my runs are over 5k with a lot near 5k, which is exactly what is explained, but again no PR was ever recorded.
