I have been having issues with the Elevation chart when I download my ride to Garmin Direct. All my activities since Aug 29th have the same issue... Anyone have any ideas what is going on?

Thanks
  • Perhaps you should tell us what the issue is with the elevation chart?

Good idea!! Sorry!! Have a look at this activities and look at the elevation profiles they are way off almost the same ride. The profile shows me climbing but I know its a downhill?? Other places show drops of 70m and I know its flat??

  • It is difficult to tell for certain, but it appears to be some sort of problem with the temperature measurements. If you look at this activity, you can see a significant change to the elevation at about 1:55:30. If you look closely at the temperature graph, you'll see a 16.2° F jump in temperature at that same time. In this activity, a 330' elevation change at 14:07 that coincides with a measured temperature change of 5.4° F.

So if I had to guess, the the problem is related to the temperature measurements. Either there is something preventing an accurate temperature measurement or maybe there is something wrong with the sensor. I'd say that the best course of action would be to call Garmin Support and see if there is some diagnostic they have that can tell you what is going on with the device.
  • Looks to me in the first one that the elevation jumps correlate to places where speed goes to zero. Did you stop for significant times at all during the first ride? Looks like elapsed time is ~ 15 min above moving time, so I'm guessing the answer is yes. Since the sun was out, if you stop an 800, being dark, will heat up pretty quickly in the sun. Happens to me all the time. That might cause the elevation jumps.
