Connect no longer automatically syncing with MFP

Connect used to sync automatically with MFP every 5 minutes, but for the last month or so I have to manually sync the two from Garmin Connect/Modern. I can't even force the sync from the mobile app. Is this problem being looked into by Garmin? I posted this comment to another thread, but never got a response so I am reposting.

Why does Garmin have a forum, but seemingly not have any of their own staff reading it or responding to people? Does that not seem a little bizarre?
  • I haven't had a problem with it syncing, but it's double counting the workouts. It syncs to my fitness pal, then posts the data from MFP as a new workout, so I have 2 of the same workouts for each and every workout I sync from my Garmin, thus creating multiple workouts on other websites that I have synced through garmin connect.
  • Thanks for the comment, Jim. However, I do not believe it is on the MFP side, because it pulls the calorie adjustments from Garmin automatically just fine. I could be wrong of course, but considering how many things are going wrong lately with connect, I have a feeling it is indeed on the Garmin side.
  • For me, Garmin Connect no longer syncs with MFP (MyFitnessPal.com) since 29 Nov 2014.

I tried, in MFP, disconnecting Garmin Connect, then reconnecting--but, no joy! Tried that a couple of times--once when I was already logged into Connect and once when I was not. The first time took me straight into Connect Dashboard; the second opened Connect, but I had to log in.

I looked in Connect-Settings-Account Information. Under the heading, Applications, only Training Peaks is listed (previously, both MyFitnessPal.com and TrainingPeaks.com were listed). Connect only allows me to REMOVE applications in the Settings menu, but not to ADD applications. Connect should have an intuitive method of adding applications to that list and to allow them to be added with permission to READ only or to READ & WRITE/MODIFY.

Why hasn't Garmin even bothered to post to this thread in nearly a month? A simple note from Garmin posted, periodically, to indicate that they acknowledge they are working on a solution (or, have discovered the problem is with MFP) would be progress. Seems to me that Garmin is close to a "Customer NO SERVICE" policy!

Agreed. I would be more patient if Garmin would be at least a little responsive. They want our money, but don't seem to have any pride in their own products. I certainly don't recommend Garmin to anyone any longer.
  • Still nothing. Garmin? Hello???
  • It's been said before but basically most of these forums (there are a few exceptions) are user-to-user. If you want a response from Garmin to this your best bet is to raise it with Product Support

Having said that only a few reports of problems, so may be an isolated issue, hence why little user comment.
  • Broken again as of yesterday late afternoon for me :-(

I also have the problem where Garmin Connect (website and Garmin Connect Mobile IOS app)is not being updated by MyFitnessPal for calories consumed. If I force a synch via Garmin Connect website it will update. Forcing synch via Garmin Express mobile also does not work. This has been going on for 1 week now

This is the same for me. There's no auto-sync anywhere. If I force it on the web, it works. I can't force the sync on the iOS app though.

I can still use the "Sync Now" link on garmin connect (in dashboard Calories IN/OUT panel) & it will retrieve my calories consumed from MFP & display the data correctly (note I have to do a page refresh in my browser window to see the update). But what stopped working for me was the communication back to MFP. What used to happen (up until a few days ago) was that my activity calories from the vivofit would automatically get pushed to MFP & appear in my Exercise Diary there. That no longer happens for some reason. If I can rant here for a sec,.... it is getting extremely tedious to always be futzing w/ these devices to get them to stay connected. I think the mfg's are constantly tinkering w/ their firmware & it causes these kinds of "now it works, now it doesn't" problems. If they would just do a more thorough job of integration & test BEFORE releasing these products (instead of relying on their customers to do it for them) it might help :/
