Better Communication / Managing of GC Connect Issues

I, like many others, today noticed Garmin Connect wasn't working. I also noticed while I did personal troubleshooting myself and then forum searching that people were all over the place in where they were posting etc and nothing 'uniform' or streamlined in terms of ways for GC Users to Alert Garmin of problems with Garmin Connect.

@Garmin - if you're not going to do anything to "detect" and provocatively let users know when Garmin Connect is having issues, then please make a simple tool/method/way for users to report Garmin Connect being down so that the very active user base can all collectively help you to ultimately help us.

This way Garmin users won't waste so much personal time troubleshooting their own devices / software / connectivity etc when all along the problem lied with Garmin.

Leaving the "Feature Request" more general, but @Garmin Users - please feel free to offer appropriate, further refinements.

Many Thanks Garmin!!!

    hi Michael,

Take of note of my 'signature'. Not trying to be a smart-a** but there aren't very many forums that have Garmin employees active in them, this is for the better part a peer-to-peer forum.

But do totally agree with the sentiment of your post - I've looked at a MASSIVE number of .fit files today to make sure that they weren't corrupt and the issue was actually being caused by the GC servers throwing the toys out of the cot. I do believe that Garmin put something on their Facebook page but that was shortly before the issue was actually resolved - but no good if you aren't on Facebook.

    cheers

    Hi Mike,

Are you saying that posting in "feature request" is only seen by users more or less?

And that I should instead send suggestion to Garmin via link in your signature [

    Hi Mike,

Are you saying that posting in "feature request" is only seen by users more or less?

    more or less - yes

And that I should instead send suggestion to Garmin via link in your signature http://www8.garmin.com/contactUs/ideas/?

unfortunately yes. The only forums that I have seen regular and sustained interaction from actual Garmin employees is the GarminExpress and Virb forums.

My goal, which i think you picked up on an agreed with, of my 'request' was to begin the process to highlight the problem to Garmin to add or further support for them to address it.

I can't put my hand on my heart and say that your request won't be seen by a Garmin employee but I have yet to read a reply in the Feature Requests forum from anyone willing to identify themselves as a Garmin employee - although I am more than happy to be corrected on that.

Thanks for your insight and help to clarify my understanding.

    Cheers,
    Mike

    You are VERY welcome :)

    cheers
