Nothing but rouble since Modern connect

Ever since Garmin announced the new modern connect site while back, I've been having problems with uploading my activities.
Not sure what the issue was but upload failed most of the time. Most of the time!
Workouts even got corrupted on the unit at multiple occasions, not sure it that was related to failed uploads or what. Coincidence?
My workaround was to upload to runkeeper or strava or whatever, then export the gpx and do a manual upload to Garmin.
At that time, this workaround worked.
But even then, time splits were gone when viewing on Garmin connect. Odd since they could be seen on all the other sites.
So I just stopped and took a 5 months break from working out (needed the rest due to an injury anyway).
Today, some 5 months later, I went for a run. Hooked the watch to the computer and tried uploading.
Didn't work (surprise, really. Figured Garmin had fixed all issues by now).
Tried 5-10 times, same deal.
Tried different browsers, no go.
Tried upload to strava (worked fine), then download gpx from there and do a manual upload to Garmin connect. Nop, that didn't work either.

So what is going on?
We have a frontend part, the connect site. Clearly this is working.
When there's probably a backend part, processing uploads or some such. I understand it may get overloaded at times or something.
But shouldn't we see a message explaining this in such case? Right now I have no idea why it isn't working.
I tried installing the latest garmin express just now. Since I already have an account, I opted for using it during the initial sync configuration.
However after typing in my credentials, the little wheel just keeps spinning round and round never proceeding to whatever it should proceed to.
I wasted a lot of time on this already.

Here's a hint Garmin.
What would you rather have, a regular car that just keeps running or a supercar that falls apart when you close the doors.
What's a pretty site worth if it's useless? Why did you mess up the "classic" site so even that won't work?
I was quite happy with the so called old UI. It was relatively fast, worked and stuff was easy to find.


Garmin, please send a watch that works with Garmin connect (since my watch isn't broken, this is clearly garmins fault).
Also send a $200 check for my wasted time (it's a real bargain, believe me).

PS. I'm gonna switch to the other tab righ now and try uploading one more time. If it succeds, I won't submit this post!.

  • Assuming you believe (?) your problems are related to Express please post in the Express forum where the active Garmin team will be able to help.

    If it's not Express but you're just having problems with Connect try reading this http://connect.garmin.com/en-US/help/how-to/

    FWIW I've had no problems with Connect Modern.
  • Actually, I had error messages today when trying to upload activities from my Garmin 910XT and my Edge 500, whereas 2 days ago everything was fine. Elsewhere on this forum there appears to be multiple complaints of errors while uploading to GC today. So this appears to be a new problem that affects most uploaders today, and, being universal or near universal, hopefully will attract the maximum attention from Garmin Connect to fix ASAP. I guess we just wait. Whether this will be the sum total of the OP's problems remains to be seen.
  • Yes, I believe there was a problem due to a timezone issue, all apparently now resolved.

    So it was just a coincidence that there was a server problem several months later since the last time I tried and I just happened to try uploading just then. Bummer.
    Sorry Garmin, my bad.
