tcx files import from runtastic into Garmin Connect

Hi,

I have spent quite some time now trying to figure out how to import my old runs which I tracked via runtastic into my garmin connect.

I have found a few posts on this topic and I know how it should work but it does not. It did not work plain vanilla so I tried to dig further in the forums:

I used to following script to get the data for all my runs from runtastic:

I guess it does not really matter....it is just a way to create all tcx files in one go.

I was reading in some other post (https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?95647-tcx-files-from-runtastic-don-t-upload) that the activity needs to have a capital letter in the tcx file...so I tried to rename "running" to "Running" within the file itself using TextEdit on my Mac.

But it still does not work.

The last thing I tried is to go through another site. I tried to import a file into Strava first (which worked) and subsequently exported a gpx file from there which I then again tried to upload into Garmin Connect...also did not work.

Can anyone help me? Spent quite some time on research now and would appreciate some hints.

Thanks!
  • There apparently issues with uploading anything to Garmin Connect today. You might do better to wait until the issues are fixed, then try again.

For future reference, it is often helpful to describe what "does not work" means. That alone is not helpful, and others are less likely to help as they don't know where to start. Better results can be had by describing what you expected to happen and what actually did happen. For instance, "I clicked upload, waited for the message that it succeeded, but instead I got an error message: 'FooBar is corrupt'".
  • The import functionality is very picky about the format of the files that it will accept. If you post a link to the tcx, I could take a peek at it to tell you what changes have to be made to get it to upload. This post may help.
