Two files won't upload to Connect

I have used the online repair tool to no avail and can't use the Access-based tool as I'm on a Mac.

I don't know if this is a corruption issue, but I'm assuming it is. Can anyone help?

ps excuse my phenomenally slow running - it's part of a plan, honest.

Same here with today's run. Two days ago no problem.
Have tried wifi, BT through my iPhone 6 and USB through a PC.
Would be nice if it is an issue for someone to confirm it rather than leaving us all guessing.

Ditto, two files from today's runs will not upload via wifi, blue tooth or garmin express. Has to bee the server and a DST glitch, like they didn't update the time on the server.

    hi PMJ,

Fit File Repair Tool found 4 corrupt time stamps in one file and 10 in the other and was able to resolve them.

Give this file and this file a try.

    cheers
    Mike

Thanks Mike. These also produced errors on upload. However, it looks like there's a general problem at the moment. I won't try anything too radical until it looks like this has been resolved.

I can't see how, but I'm also wondering if it's anything to do with manually changing the time on my Garmin which I was using as a wristwatch while overseas. Both these runs are since I got back (and coincidentally, the clocks changed in the UK while I was away).

    hi PMJ,

I think there are two separate issues going on here - the corrupt timestamps in your files are caused by your device momentarily losing the GPS signal (a tunnel, overhead cover, tall buildings etc causing disruption) and I have been able to fix the corruption using the Fit File Repair Tool.

The second issue is that I have read that there are currently issues with uploading to GC due to a time zone change somewhere in the world. I may have been lucky in getting your files to upload so I guess patience until the time zone issue is resolved is now needed.

    cheers
    Mike

Yes - thanks for that. That all makes sense. I'll try the fixed files once the global problem is resolved.

It's the servers, not the FIT files. My FIT file uploaded to Strava just fine.

My issue is with vivofit and connect. I figured a problem with the time change but I don't know how to tell. I tried to unpair and pair again but the sync stopped at about 1/3 of the way through the data upload. Says error =500.
  • Same issue with my 310XT. Went on a run this morning. When I tried to upload, it looked like it had made 20 attempts to upload my run. Upon further inspection, it turns out that the dates and times of all activities on my device were changed to today and that it treated them all as new. I don't know if this is a firmware issue or a Garmin Express bug, but it sure is a bug.
Re-uploading up to 3 week-old activities with today's date obviously causes errors, but there is more going on and I can't quite put my finger on it. I deleted all activities from the device except today's - the only new one - and re-paired it with Garmin Express, but no dice. I deleted all the .fit files from the various folders. I reinstalled Garmin Express. I no longer get sync errors, but it does not upload anything when I sync now, even though the activity is still on the device and it is not yet in Garmin Connect.
This is very frustrating. If I was paid a low hourly rate for all the time that Garmin users spent today trying to fix the issues caused by something as elementary as a DST bug, I'd probably be retiring tomorrow. Imagine what this does to our GDP!
I can hard-reset everything and put a manual activity into Garmin Connect, but this is not the first time I have to resort to this. As a prior 305 owner, I had hoped that all the issues with that device were just attributable to the fact that it did not receive any support or upgrades anymore, but come on, Garmin, some of these problems have been around for years. I saw a post from 2012 from someone with the exact same issue that I had on the 310XT today - activity dates mangled because of a DST change.
I never managed to sync with Training Center or Strava directly. Installing Garmin Express apparently uninstalls the Ant Agent. The only way I was ever able to sync was with Express, and with that route blocked, the data on the device is unreachable.

Yes, looking at the data in my file, it shows my run to have started at 7:19pm. As I sit here currently, it is 5:28pm. So there is some sort of issue with the device? My FR310xt automatically adjusted to the correct time, so I'm unsure of how the data in the file is off. I was able to upload the data to Strava by uploading a .fit file from the directory on my computer where activities are stored. But GC didn't want to accept it. I suppose I could try and alter all of the time stamps, or just wait until 7:19pm rolls around..

So there you may have your answer guys. The time stamps in the files may be too late, and GC doesn't want them because that time has not occurred yet. So check to see if this is the case, then either fix them all manually, or wait until that time comes around.

PS I'm guessing the time stamps are not generated from the devices time, but rather GPS computed time, so there probably lies the bug. Time to roll out some new firmware? (if it's a Garmin issue)

EDIT: Changed the timestamp and still issue.
