How about showing the course name on the en masse activities display screen. I still name my activity by the course run since that is the only way to see it.
If the display would show the course name then I could name the activity by the type of run it was, such as 3wu+6MP+3cd for 3 warmup miles followed by 6 miles at marathon pace followed by 3 cooldown miles as an example. As a result I currently leave the course name field empty.
