Heart Rate Zone - time in each

At the minute if you use Strava - you can see instantly the time spent in each of your training zones. This is an essential tool for an athlete training with a coach - hence the reason it is also on training peaks. I switched to mainly using Garmin because of auto up loading but have to switch to other programmes to feed info to my coach. This seems like such a basic feature that garmin really should incorporate.

I also think it would be good to show heart rate zones in Heart rate graph
  • YOu can show the zones in the graph just by clicking back and forth between bpm, zone and % of max also depending on how you set up your workouts you can configure your intervals/laps etc to be in zone ranges
  • Do you know if the Fenix 2 can show on the watch which zone you're in whilst you are actually exercising?

Time in Zone is essential for anyone who is trying to train to a program. I find the quality and quantity of data available on garmin connect to really be lacking. It's like it's really dumbed down. But the time in zone feature is one that really is a MUST for a device that is marketed to people who are serious about their training. BRING BACK TIME IN ZONE - please listen to your customers.

I'm seeing this late but I agree! I've used a Garmin HR monitor for a few years and the heart rate graphs were so much more detailed previously. I notice the graph of heart rate zone over time only appears when I switch to Classic View, and it is very dumbed down from a couple years ago. There is no summary of time in each zone, just the graph. Ugh. Press % zone under details and the graph will show.
  • Agreed seems that it should be easy to reintroduce - I still use Training Centre for that info as well as for creating some workouts that you cannot create through connect
  • I agree, it is all very nice to see a graph of heart rate, but it doesn't mean much unless the data is collated somehow into something meaningful. Time in each zone would be a start.

Yup, cast a vote for another that needs this.
  • Defo. Me too.

Just discovered that if you export activity .tcx file and import into Garmin Training Centre then you can see [edit: all your custom not visible] zones [only default] on graph of your HR during activity and the times in each zone. Bit of a pain to do this for each activity you want it for but at least it is recoverable. But all the information is there so Garmin really could very easily include the details in Connect. Come on Garmin.

And again just discovered that with Fenix 3 you can see time in all [edit: actual custom] zones with nice bar chart on the watch from History. Still should be on Connect site mind you.
