lost my vivofit, getting a replacement, but wondering if sync will tie it to the existing data, records, etc. and if there's something i need to do beside hitting the sync function to make it do that

Within Garmin Express, retire you old vivofit, and when you get the new one, just set it up to the same account you've been using.
