G Express connects to device but G Connect says I have no device.

Garmin Express recognizes my Monterra, connects to it, provides software updates to it etc. Express has no problem recognizing it. Garmin Connect however, says "you have no device on Garmin Connect, connect a device using Garmin Express".

I have the most recent software on the Monterra, the most recent version of Garmin Express and the most recent version of the communicator addin. I have tried using IE, Chrome and Firefox. Running Windows 7. I have restarted the computer and retried multiple times.

What am I missing?
  • You don't need Garmin Communicator with Garmin Express. If you've added it after Garmin Express, perhaps best to delete it then reinstall GE. Makes sure any traces of ANT Agent are gone too. You need to be using the new Garmin Connect to see your device with Garmin Express.
  • From what I've read garmin gave priority to making Garmin Express handle the fitness devices for upload/sync to Garmin Connect. It might just be they have not written the code for syncing with the Monterra. But the Garmin Express sub-forum would be the better place to find out.
  • Thanks for the suggestions. As per PHILIPSHAMBROOK, I removed communicator and express and reinstalled express (nothing ant related that I can see). No change in situation though. Is there anything in Express that I have to set to tell express to pass on my connection data to connect? I will look in the Express sub-forum

    Thanks,

  • You need to enter your Garmin Connect account details. Click on device and scroll to the bottom, there may be an option there.

As noted above, that may not be possible with the Monterra anyway. I've just checked with the GPSMap 62s I have connected to Garmin Express and there is no option to connect to a Garmin Connect account.
  • I now think that it isn't possible. The sales rep told me it worked with Connect (which was a requirement for me and why I bought accessories like the heart monitor). However, in re-reading the garmin web site, they make no mention of being able to use "Connect" with this device. Too bad. It was looking like this device could do it all. Guess I'm back to buying multiple GPS's instead. :(

    Thanks for the advice though!
