Problem with a Multisport activity - loads as single activity? (910XT Version 3.00)

I completed a duathlon today - Run, Bike, Run - and set up my 910XT in accordance with the manual (page 8 and 9) for an Auto Multisport Workout. Note this is the first time I have used this feature so there could be some user error here perhaps?

And note I had it set to allow transitions to be recorded.

So - I started the activity when the gun went off, hit lap as I completed the first run section and entered transition, hit lap when I left transition on the bike etc. etc.

All seemed to go well. But when loaded onto Garmin Connect it appears as one activity for the total duration. The total duration looks good and is close to the chip time so that is positive at least.

I may have done something wrong here and it isn't the end of the world if it cannot be recovered/updated, but if anyone has any advice or if they can look at the attached .FIT file in case there is something wrong I would be extremely grateful (I've seen a couple of threads suggesting there have been problems in the past).

I plan on more duathlons in the near term so I think I'll stick with a manual switch over of the sport type - and forget about the nice fancy recording of transitions etc.

Thanks.
  • It sounds like you are using it right. If I were you, I'd sit down on the couch for a little while and do some testing. Enable auto-multisport mode, press start, wait a few seconds, press lap, repeat, press stop, then hold down the lap button to save. Then upload that and see if it works correctly.

You are the second person to complain about issues with the auto-multisport functionality of the 910 in a few days. Either something weird is going on, or it is just chance that you are both having problems getting it to work correctly.

  • My understanding is that it's not the recording of the activity on the device, it's the display in Garmin Connect. And that has been changed to display multisport activities as one file apparently hasn't it?
  • No, that is not the problem here. I loaded the .fit file into my Garmin Connect account and it comes through as a single activity. You can clearly see that there were three legs to the activity, but they all show up as part of a single run activity with an incredible average pace (something like 4:54min/mi for several miles).
