Elevation is off compared to the map in Garmin Connect but correct in Endomondo

I have discovered that the elevation graph in Garmin Connect is off compared to the map.
If I export from Garmin Connect and upload to Endomondo, then the elevation graph is correct relative to the map.

It seems to me that the logged file from my Forerunner 620 is correct but it is parsed incorrectly at the Garmin Connect site.

Does anyone have the same problem?
  • Probably what's happening is that Endomondo ignores the altitude your 620 gives and just replaces it with altitude from a map. Garmin Connect does not do that, it trusts the barometric altimeter in your 620. If you don't calibrate it beforehand, though, it may not be trustworthy so far as absolute elevation is concerned.

    Thank you @Schinder.
I think you might be right.

    FR620 doesn’t include a barometric altimeter!!!!
  • The fr620 has an "elevation" field. So if it does not have a barometric sensor, then it must be using gps info to calculate an altitude. However gps is less accurate in the vertical than it is in the horizontal. So even then the first response still makes since as Garmin Connect might be using the elevation from the device.
