Garmin Fenix and Track Help

I recently purchased a garmin fenix. I turned on the GPS and went into the woods hunting/hiking. I completed my trip and stopped the GPS. I saved it as a track. Well the track is not coming up through garmin connect and I went through and downloaded base camp. So I can see my trip, however I have no satellite imagery to look at which basically makes this whole device worthless to me. I saw something called birds eye imagery, which is 30 dollars. If I purchase this will I be able to see the imagery on the computer as well?

  • I don't know if the Garmin Fenix is supposed to be able to upload to Garmin Connect or not. So someone else will have to answer that for you. Possibly the answer is already in the Garmin Fenix sub-forum.

If you don't have a map to use with basecamp, then you can look at your data on Google Earth. I do that quite a bit. Depending on what type files your device creates, you may have to convert it to something else. You might do a save as or export from basecamp or other mapping software to make it work with Google Earth.
  • If you record only in GPX format on the Fenix, then Garmin Express will not see the track and will not upload it to Garmin Connect. Express only cares about FIT format from the Fenix. However, you can still upload the GPX track to Garmin Connect manually (Activities -> Import).

As for BirdsEye, you can only look at that with your computer, the Fenix itself doesn't support or display it. Better to take voiceresponse's advice and just look at it in Google Earth.

Alright, I appreciate it your help. I'm not going to lie, you guys are speaking greek to me right now. LOL I apologize. I will go look up how to put the track on google earth. Maybe my wife will be able to figure it out. She's the tech one of us. I'm just the guy who plays in the woods for days on end.
