Not locating GPS at all
Former Member
Hi folks,
Just ran a half marathon today. Frustrated that despite trying to locate signal for 10 minutes before the start, I ended up running with just the timer mode on as it got to 100% but didn't fix the GPS lock. :( Is that a tad extreme?
Where you more than a hundred or so miles from where you last turned it on? Although most newer GPS devices should be able to locate themselves within ten minutes, sometimes poor reception can limit that, especially if your are in a crowd with plenty of RF interference from cell phones, blue tooth and ant devices, possibly tall buildings nearby, not to mention just bodies.
If you change locations drastically, then turn it on early to get the location, then you can turn it off till closer to start time.
