On the new Connect no time vs distance

In the old connect, and in the classic view you could view your activity in "Player" and overlay your time over your distance. This would allow me to determine how long it took me to run any given distance. I could see how long it took me to run my first mile, second and 26th mile.

In the new connect, it is impossible to view your time at any specific distance.

Does anyone know of a work-around in modern view?

Designers: the new GUI looks and feels great . . . but this is a key piece of data. I am surprised the new features didn't make this easier to get to, it let alone omitting it all together.

Am I the only person here that wants to see what my time was at given distances?

As of right now, I have to go to classic view, then view details on the given run, then go to the player and pull the data from there.

Is there an easier way to determine what my time (not pace) was when I completed mile 1, 2 etc.?

I too looked for this feature and am baffled by its absence. No mile markers on routes either, so unless you hit your lap button, you're out of luck when it comes to time AND distance.

    Any workaround?

The only way I know how is through classic view. But it seems to me that this would be a popular request. I was surprised they didn't have it when I first started using connect and now I am even more surprised they removed the only way to get to it in modern view. Hoping they will put a simpler way into modern before they abandon classic.
  • If you want mile markers and per-mile stats, enable auto lap for every mile. That is exactly what it is there for.

I don't use auto lap in races, because the mile markers are not always accurate and I want to know what my "race" miles are during the race, but later want to know what my "Garmin" miles are. This is such a basic feature I am very surprised it was removed, and it should definitely be restored. Time and distance simultaneously? SO basic and necessary! How do I ask the powers that be to restore this feature in the player?

    Travis,
Thanks for the input. I didn't know that enabling auto lap would do this (to be fair, even the downloaded owners manual doesn't describe this). I checked the settings on my 620 and found that auto lap was enabled, and auto distance was set to 1 mi, but it was not logging the information as you described. I don't get an alert when I pass mile markers either.
Do I need to enable the alerts and set it to the same distance in order to log the stats as you described? Or am I missing something/doing something wrong?

Thanks again for the info. If I can get this to work the way you described . . . I will be one happy camper!

I have been trying to get my 620 to log auto-laps at every mile, but no luck. I am running scheduled workouts synced from the connect site. Could this be the reason my 620 is not logging my time at every mile - because I am running a calendar workout?
  • I'm not sure why it wouldn't work. I don't have a 620 to test, but that seems like you could post to the Forerunner 620 forum about it. Maybe someone there could help you out.

SO . . . When following a workout, the 620 auto-lap function will not work. This is confirmed.

This brings me back to the original issue; Garmin Connect modern does not allow you to determine your time at any given distance. Garmin Connect classic is only slightly better in that you can extrapolate the data, but the data is not presented in an easily obtained or consumed format.

I am still in awe of this! How is this not an issue for EVERYONE!??

Connect interface guys; Please incorporate a means to determine time at x-distance. This seems like such a rudimentary requirement . . .

I'm with you on this. I just found the same thing when trying to look today's race to assess whether I did a negative split. it was a 5k and I couldn't get the 2.5k time. I had to switch back to the old view to see it.

A really big miss by Garmin on this. We should be able to overlay both time and distance on any metric.
