Pairing Failed Server error?

My Iphone 4S had a fit when I loaded the new 8.2 update yesterday and I had to download all my apps again including the garmin connect. Since then I cannot connect my Vivofit. It gets as far as pairing and trying to finish set up ( it refused to do anything until it erased my data first which was nice ) but now it comes up with unable to pair your device server error when finishing off the installation process. This means I now have no data and not even a watch .....as its not displaying the time, presumably because it cannot complete the installation.

Any ideas as at the moment I can only use it as some form of plastic band around my wrist.
  • I'm confused. Where is the pairing issue? You mention your phone, vivofit and Connect ... what can't you connect your vivofit to? What is the exact error?

Sorry, I'm trying to pair my vivofit to the garmin connect app on my iphone. It sees the watch and tries to pair and when it is finishing off the installation process it says Server Error cannot connect.
  • Are you trying to pair from your vivofit or from your phone? Note that you can only pair with one device at a time so ensure your vivofit hasn't paired with your PC.

Just confirm you're pressing the button on your vivofit and are then seeing pair on the screen? Also ensure you kill any processes on your phone through task manager, just in case something is interfering with the pairing process.

Im trying to pair my vivofit watch with the garmin connect on my phone. It says PAIR on the watch and then the connect asks if I see a code on the watch ( which I do ) I then click next to complete the installation and then the error message appears ( on the Garmin Connect app on the phone ).

Frustrated. I got my vivofit today and also trying to pair with my iphone. I don't have a computer (which was part of why I got the vivofit, thinking I could just use the garmin connect mobile app to set it up. Keep getting pairing failed, server error message. Spent over an hour on the phone with garmin reps/on hold just to be told it was probably something on their end and just to keeo trying.

I guess I will do that. Anyone know if I'm ok to use it with the HRM for a race tomorrow? I.e. Will it still track my information and let me sync it once I finally can pair it to the connect app?

I'm having a similar problem. I setup my Vivosmart using my Mac and then paired it using Bluetooth settings on my phone. It's connected, getting Notifications and controlling iTunes on my iPhone 5S but still not pairing with the Garmin Connect app, so no data sync.

    Hi all.

I've been home with my Vivosmart for all of 30 minutes. Downloaded the iOS app (1 Star Reviews so far - all claiming to have my issue), and I'm getting a "Pairing Failed - Server Error". Seems this is a "thing" now on the iOS app - not sure about Android. Any suggestions?

I expected more from Garmin... $169 and so far, not impressed at all.

So maybe persistence pays off. I tried pairing again (for what felt like the hundredth time) and it worked!!

    Let's see if it holds!
