I just got the Forerunner 10 and I'd like to shaw my run tonight on my Facebook page, how do I do that. Is the only option to post a link to the garmin connect? I want to be able to show the map and time.

Thanks,
Ryan

    Ugh! Is this true? Wow!

Assuming this is true, RYANMYERS1977, use MapMyRide. It creates really nice thumbnails of maps, with some of the important stats appearing, by default, on your Facebook Wall. It isn't just a link, but if your friends or anyone you share your ride with clicks on the map, it will go right to your MapMyRide page. I use the Garmin for Turn By Turn, cadence, and other sensors, and easy at-a-glance stats (without having to fish out my cell phone every few minutes) but ALWAYS have MapMyRide going on my smart phone as well.

Overall, I think MapMyRide, a totally free app, is WAY BETTER than and does 99% of its functions better than anything Garmin has created. But the ability to create courses and get turn-by-turn directions on your custom courses is just not something that cell phone apps can do...yet! Hopefully soon, then I will retire the Garmin. ;)

    Hold your horses there Tonto.

If you've properly set the privacy setting for an activity, there is a share button that you can click on the activity details page. You can certainly use this to share your activity information on facebook. I said to post the link because people often have trouble with the share button working (often due to browser plugin issues).

That said, if you paste a URL to the activity into your status update, Facebook and Garmin will generate a map and some activity details. That is what your friends will see.

    Hi Travis,
could you please help me? I have set sharing to 'everyone', but still share button is grayed out and when I copy/paste and send link to anyone they get 'you do not have sufficient privileges...' message. Where is problem?

    Regards,
    Boris

I can't even find the share button!!! Can anyone help me please, also a Forerunner10. Many thanks.
  • The recent changes to the modern Garmin Connect have moved it. If you are looking at an activity details page, near the top-right corner, you should see pencil, star, share, lock, and a gear icon. The lock can be used to change the privacy settings for an activity. You must set this to Everyone for the share button to be available. Once you've done that, you can click the share button (looks like a square with an arrow coming out of it) to share an activity.
