Garmin Connect/ Garmin Express uploading issues with Edge 800

Hi,
I am having issues with both Garmin Connect and Garmin Express uploading longer routes from from an Edge 800. This is a new issue that has only started since trying to install Garmin Express. I am still able to upload shorter activities subsequent to this issues becoming apparent - please help...

Garmin connect

Edge 800 Software version 2.70, GPS version 2.86

I am using windows and Mozilla Firefox to access connect.

I use the item daily for <10 mile routes which I upload and charge about weekly. I have in the last 2 months completed 2 longer rides (sportives/ charity rides) which when I try to upload them (maual upload, wired with the Edge 800 in the same manner that works for the shorter routes) stalls on the with the status "uploading" (and icon still cycling). After a number of hours it has still not uploaded (this was for an 8 hour session).

Garmin Express recognises the connection and identifies three new activities to upload. It successfully loads on (weight) but fails on the 2 longer routes listed above with an error and asks me to try later (which I have done on a number of occasions with no success).

Can you provide some direction as to why this may be happening and how I can include these in my Garmin Connect and prevent this from happening in the future? (doing a shorter event is not an option for this...)

    Can you attach the files in a reply to this post or if they are too big to attach, then can you get yourself a free Dropbox account, upload the files to there and then share the links to them in a reply?

    I'll have a look at them with the Fit File Repair Tool and try and work out it is an issue with the files themselves.

    hi Extreme.mantest,

    The Fit File Repair Tool wasn't able to find anything obviously wrong with your files but it may have subtlety 'fixed' something within the files as I was able to get of them to upload to Garmin Connect without any issues.

    Give this file and this file a try.

    That has worked. Thank you very much for your help. Have you observed a similar issue with anyone else/ many others? I am worried that wothout a fix I may have to invest in the Fit File Repair Tool, something that I would hope I should not need as a matter of course it it should simply work (as it used to prior to looking at Garmin Express)...

    Not with the Edge800 I haven't - I have one myself and it's proven rock solid. I would put it down to just one of those technical glitches that happen from time to time.

    The people that seem to have the most issues are the owners of Edge500/510's.

    FFRT is THE best tool for repairing corrupt .fit files and the developer is constantly working on improving it.

    There are a couple of us here (like myself and DATEZZ) who are MORE than happy to repair corrupt .fit files if you decide not to purchase your own copy.
