Importing TCX or GPX file - complete fail

I have tried multiple times to import a course for a 100 mile bike ride I am doing next week. I have tried using the Import button on the Activities page - but either just hands or comes up with a "Undefined" message or just hangs. No feedback or reason why?

Garmin Master - simple question how do I upload a file so i can use it on my Garmin 800. Not a difficult question to answer surely?
PS Compared to Strava, GarminConnect is a terrible user interface... only just started using it and wondering why?

You can't upload a course to Garmin Connect. Only activity files are accepted.

If you have a .tcx/.gpx/.fit file and an Edge 800, all you have to do is connect the 800 to your computer via USB, open up the storage on the device (it should appear as a drive in Windows/MacOS), and copy the .tcx/.gpx/.fit file to the NewFiles folder.

Wow, how backwards. I've jut tried importing courses so I could share to my devices....but look like I need to dig out a cable to make this possible. Come on Garmin, get with the times!
