Participants and segments

I stumbled upon segments the other day and have been amused to see my rankings. Since you ask, not bad for a 72 yr old against the 65+ group. Is there a way to determine how many participants there across all age groups? One of my rankings is 975th - is that 975/976 or 975/1000 or some larger number? It would be nice to know.

On one early ride in June I discovered that I crossed 5 or so segments on Box Hill, Surrey. A ride on Sunday last again included BH but no segments were recorded. Can some one suggest why please

If you click the "View Details" link when looking at the relevant segment in the "your Segments" window you will see how many people have completed the segment and also how many activities have crossed it.

With regard to segments not showing up when you know you have crossed them, it seems that this is a common problem. The segment matching is pretty hit and miss I find - I haven't even been assigned a rank for one segment that I created from my own activity! Sometimes, segment ranks will magically appear at a later date but this is by no means certain.

The segment ranking does not work at all well for me. I have over 10 segments but only one ranks me. The rest say something like "the leaderboard is still being created. Please check back later."
