cycle computer and watch off the same sensor?

Hi, I have a garmin 910xt triathlon watch, I want to be able to leave it on my wrist for the swim, bike and run.
But I like to have a cycle mounted screen on my handle bars, could I buy a garmin edge base unit and run it off the same sensors as the watch at the same time or would I need to separate sensors ?
  • yes, if the sensor is ant+, any of the Garmin base units that use ant+ will happily pair with the same sensor while it's also paired to another unit. The sensors are just sending out signals and don't care how many devices read that info.

Thanks, I've raced for two years and thought the same thing but never used my edge 510 because I just assumed I couldn't have my edge and my 910xt reading the same sensors at the same time.

I've done this with my Forerunner 620 and Edge 510. Biggest issue was using the auto calibrate on the speed and cadence sensor on both devices - took me a few tries before I figured out I needed to hard code the two devices with my bike wheel size. Who would have guessed they would have auto calibrated so vastly differently (about 3/4 km over a 22km ride).

Do a short test ride to make sure you are in sync before doing anything where you really want the data to be valid.
