Keep Classic

Any other cyclist's dislike the Connect? This software is too buggy to be useful.
  • I can't say that I've found anything in the new GC that is functionally different than the old GC other than the way activities are uploaded/synced. I don't use workouts or the calendar, nor have I had any interest in trying their segments as Strava and Mapmyride already do these to my satisfaction.

That being said, none of the free accounts on any of the sites totally show me the things I want to see in the way I want to see them, so I wind up using three sometimes four different sites.

Personally I'd rather Garmin give up trying to make a killer site so they don't have to keep adding the cost of the website to the Garmin products I may want to purchase in the future.
  • I don't like the " modern" version of the connect website, and as I prefer it, I continue to use the classic version. I also share the view that they shouldn't focus on trying to do things like Segments. Leave that to Strava and focus on your own strengths and features as a point of difference. If you're going to focus on segments and the like, I' m just going to use strava and ditch connect altogether.

I find that I now prefer the new version. Admittedly. there have been quite a few bugs and glitches but, as these gat ironed out, GC is becoming a good training aid.

I dislike the modern version very much.
It brings no real benefit to me but the font looks very cluttered on my system compared to the classic version
I always have cleartype disabled and I have attached a screenshot for comparison.
I also dislike the big map at the top because there is less room to scroll down with the wheel (if you scroll on the map it resizes of cours)
Now I need to use the keyboard or the scrollbar to scroll down.
The Graphs were much clearer before so I also prefer the classic version here.
All in all I want to keep the classic version but a big header always nags me to use the modern design claiming to be better and clearer (Pah!)

I, too, do not care at all for the Modern view. But, I did find that if I change to Modern view and then back to Classic view, the big header was gone. Please, Garmin, DO NOT cram the Modern view down our throats.
  • Kill classic. Kill it with fire. That way people will stop comparing classic to modern and development efforts can be focused on making modern better for everyone.

The Connect website is the FLAKIEST website I have ever come across. I usually have to login 3 times before I can see my uploaded activity. Now I am unable to 'view details' getting the error message 'You do not have sufficient privileges to view the activity with id 626233634.' I have emailed Garmin but no reply!

I am really trying hard to give the new "Modern View" a chance, but I still prefer the Classic layout. I frequently ride or run a complex route and save it as a "Course" so that I can repeat it and compare my performance. Has anybody found a way to save an Activity as a Course in the Modern View? In the Classic view there is a "Save as Course" on the page plain as day, but I see no way to do it at all in the Modern View. Help?
  • From the full view of your activity, click on the cog in the top right next to the padlock.

It's different. It's better. You just need to get used to it.
