Why does Garmin Connect says I have no devices connected

I am so frustrated, I have connected my Garmin GPSMAP 62S to the computer, logged on and just updated my device. But Garmin Connect says I have no device connected, all it keeps doing is downloading the 'Download for Windows' software, then asks me to restart my computer. I'm on Windows 8, using FIrefox, the add on for Firefox is up to date. Any help
