No calories burned

I'm using an Edge 800 device. On my last few rides, I've looked at the number of calories burned, and it says zero. All other measurements are working (speed, distance, heart rate, cadence) and the device has my weight etc stored. I'm presuming calories is just a calculation but the calculation seems to have stopped working. Any ideas??

Ewan - do the calories show when you review your data on the device? I'm getting a similar issue, but only with Garmin Connect. The calories as calculated by my Forerunner 620 initially show with the activity, but then randomly disappear at some point. Haven't quite figured out why. Thankfully I have the "delete from device" checkbox unchecked while doing my uploads, so the data still exists on my watch and I can put the number back in.

Hi Schmithy. Calories have been showing as zero on the device AND on the data uploaded to Hi Schmithy. Calories have been showing as zero on the device AND on the data uploaded to Garmin Connect. HOWEVER, there has been a development. Today, I went for a ride on another bike and changed the bike profile before doing so. The bike I was using doesn't have a cadence sensor but I was wearing the heart monitor and the device calculates the speed from GPS. And what did I discover? That the device was calculating Calories Burned! And the data was still there when I upload to Connect. All I need to do now is switch back to the bike I was having a problem with and see if the Calories Burned is working. If it does, I am baffled. If it doesn't, then there must be a setting somewhere that is either specific to the Bike Profile, or the presence of the cadence sensor is confusing the device. I will keep you posted.

Just to confirm that, having switched back to the first bike (in relation to which no calories data was being collected), the calories data is now being collected again. Additionally, on switching to another (third) bike, the calories data is also being collected. So the whole issue seems to have been spurious and fixed by switching bike profiles. I hope you managed to fix your issue too.
