New activity not appearing in Garmin Connect - FR910XT

Garmin Express shows the activity as uploading and able to be viewed but the activity does not appear in Garmin Connect. I have tried a manual upload in Classic which has also been unsuccessful.

Since switching to Garmin Express and Garmin Connect Modern I have had a run of issues which I did not experience with the old Ant Agent and Classic Garmin Connect.

I understand the need to try to improve and modernize your platform but to achieve this while maintaining reliability and a user friendly environment you need to ensure that before you go to market with such changes you have these issue's sorted first. Or at least respond when issue's are brought to your attention as I am yet to receive any correspondence from messages I have sent to your support.
  • Have you tried re-associating your device with your Garmin Connect account in Garmin Express? In Garmin Express, click the dropdown box on the left and select the device you are using. Then click the Device link on the right. Scroll down to Garmin Connect Account section, and click the Change Account button. When you provide the account credentials, be sure to enter your user name as you would if you were to sign into Garmin Connect directly.

    Once you've done this, create a simple dummy activity (start timer, wait 15 seconds, stop timer, hold the lap button for three seconds to save), and try to upload it. Does the new activity appear in your Garmin Connect account?
  • Thanks Travis, I have done this and the new dummy activity has uploaded but yesterday's actual activity which is on the watch still has not uploaded.

    Also on further investigation I have found that when attempting to perform a manual upload in Classic Garmin Connect the most recent file is from 8/12/14 which is almost one month ago, yet I have uploaded an activity almost everyday and these all appear in Garmin Connect, until yesterday's activity.

    I have also tried a manual import from the device folder but this also has the most recent file from 8/12/14.

    Unable to synch 405 with new Garmin Connect

    I too have had trouble with synching since the new version has been released. I have used a Garmin 405 with heart monitor (I'll be 74 next week) for 4 years and had very little trouble with the software - I had to replace the watch twice and had a firmware upgrade once.

    Then with the new application, first I noticed that my sessions were not loading into Garmin Training Centre (data held on my lap top rather than "the cloud") and now all sorts of issues synching the device with the application. It wont even work when I try to "Force Send". I too have asked for assistance and my email goes unanswered. Next thing is to throw the lot out and buy someone else's like "Map my run" or something - and, bugger it, loose all the history of the 12,000+ kilometers I have been running and cycling.

    Should I remove and reinstall? If I do will I loose all my data?
  • Thanks Travis, I have done this and the new dummy activity has uploaded but yesterday's actual activity which is on the watch still has not uploaded.

    Sounds like a corrupt .fit file. If you can't get a copy of that file onto your PC, then there isn't much that you can do.

    I have found that when attempting to perform a manual upload in Classic Garmin Connect the most recent file is from 8/12/14 which is almost one month ago, yet I have uploaded an activity almost everyday and these all appear in Garmin Connect, until yesterday's activity.

    This indicates that you are using the Garmin Communicator Plugin to locate the files. Are you using Garmin Express on the computer? If so, the Garmin Communicator plugin isn't looking at files that were uploaded with Garmin Express. Garmin Express puts its files in a totally different location. This support article tells where you can find the files.

    The above also explains why when you try to do a manual import you aren't seeing files since 8/12 (assuming you installed Garmin Express on 8/12).
  • Thanks again Travis.

    I have followed the instruction's from the support article you provided the link to. I updated Garmin Express to the latest version (I would have thought that Garmin Express would inform users if a newer version was available without needing to manually check) and I have located the new location of the .fit files. On attempting to manually import the file to Modern Garmin Connect the upload will not complete, it hangs on 'uploading.'

    I assume this indicates a corrupt file as you have advised which is disappointing as the activity was an important session in the build up to my upcoming competitions which I really would have liked to review and analyse in detail - hard to do when you can only review it on the watch!

    I have tried to delete the .fit file and upload it again from the watch but this has not worked. Is there any other way to upload the file as it seems strange to me that the file can be viewed on the watch but not able to be transferred to Garmin Connect?
  • If you found the file on your computer, post it here to see if someone will run the Fit File Repair Tool on it.

    I checked the S/N on my 405 and it was different than the one I last used - the firmeare update must have been a new watch. I registered that and then I reinstalled Garmin Express and it uploaded the 2 recent tracks so hopefully that is all it was.

    Hi there. I have the same issue. I found the file and it was named as 1989-12-31 00/00/00 +0000_**** I'm guessing this is incorrect and could be causing the issue. It was also in a folder called FIT_TYPE_9 instead of FIT_TYPE_4 as the previous files had been stored. Any chance someone could try fixing it for me?
  • After advice from this forum I have managed to fix the .fit file I was having an issue with and it was very simple.

    1. Go to here: http://garmin.kiesewetter.nl/
    2. Locate the file in the Garmin Connect folder at the following path: \ProgramData\Garmin\GarminConnect
    3. Once you have uploaded the file click 'convert to _autofix.fit file'
    4. Import converted file into Garmin Connect

    Very simple and great to now be able to view and edit the activity.

    Thanks Matt, but unless I am being very stupid (which is highly likely) I can't get this to work. I followed the instructions and when I press "convert to _autofix.fit" it opens a file up very small file in textedit (using a Mac) with;

    @8.FIT@åÜÑÑÑ\t›Êˇˇˇˇ0ˇˇ @1Ñ,ˇƒπ

    Any help would be appreciated.
