Mobile Connect Sleep Integration
Former Member
Using the mobile Garmin Connect I noticed the "Sleep" tab where I can sync my device or enter sleep manually. I don't have a Vivofit, I already have a Forerunner 410 for my fitness. So, I thought maybe I could sync with the mobile app I have called "Sleep Cycle" by Northcube AB. I find the app very detailed with it's presentation of "hills and valleys" depending on when you're awake or in deep sleep. It gives a percentage of sleep quality along with the time spend in bed. Turning the phone horizontally allows you to see more graphs, (depending on how many nights you've used it, gives you more points for it to plot) from Sleep quality per day of the week to sleep notes and it's effect on your sleep quality. I've been using the app for quite a few months now and have a good spread of how I sleep at night. But, as I look online at how to sync these two apps (Garmin Connect and Sleep Cycle) I couldn't find anything. I understand Garmin wanting to sell more of their products (Vivofit bands) that work very well with their services. I could also see Garmin Connect coming out with their own app that does the same as Sleep Cycle in using the phones accelerometer and mic to determine your sleep patterns. Garmin seems to work seamlessly with MyFitnessPal, while Sleep Cycle only seems to sync with Facebook and Runkeeper (an app I don't use). I wasn't sure who would be responsible for making these two sync together, possibly just waiting for one company to offer a deal to the other and the gears begin working on it. Hopefully this post gets some ideas in Garmin's head for more connectivity.
