I had a SYNC fail today too - even though Garmin ANT Agent returned the success message "Last transfer with device Forerunner 405 on 26/08/2014 13:50:06 was successful. Activities were transferred to Garmin Connect."
I was able to manually upload it to Garmin Connect using the classic upload page on http://connect.garmin.com/transfer/upload and browsing to the .tcx file on my machine at C:\Users\[me]\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Devices\[device-id]\History\
Garmin 310XT here. Wanna hear something interesting and possibly heartening? Well, your data IS making it up to Garmin somehow, it's just not showing on Connect. I'm using Garmin Express and getting errors trying to sync. However, I have it setup to automatically upload my workouts to TrainingPeaks from Garmin Connect. So.... guess what?! My workout from last night threw errors in Garmin Express and is NOT showing on Garmin Connect. However, pop over to TrainingPeaks and there it is!!!
Not sure what this means. Guessing that a switch will be flipped and everything will be showing in Garmin Connect soon?!
My rides are showing on Strava but not Garmin Connect. My issue is that I use the Garmin Connect data to populate My Fitness Pal as it has a better calorie algorithm (IMO - No arguments intended or needed :P ) so I have had to add it manually.
My bug bear is when companies don't have the simplest customer service standards to acknowledge that there is an issue so that thousands of users have some idea of what's going on. We have all spent money, some hundreds, some thousands, to Garmin and you would think that they would be able to post, tweet or facebook something. Customer regard is a thing of the past it seems.
