Unable to upload from Edge 510 to iPhone or PC

My 510 has sporadically had upload issues for the last few months. Sometimes it will upload fine automatically, sometimes it will fail and take a few attempts, and sometimes it will say "failed" but actually upload.

Today it failed several times. When it finally did give me a successful message, it didn't actually upload.

I tried to upload it to my PC via cable, and it just says "uploading".

Any ideas? Frustrating for sure.

I also have the same issues, more often on a longer ride. Short rides seem to synch ok. Have tried a number of things, such as turning devices off and reconnecting. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. One method that seems to work is to connect the phone on Bluetooth, then turn the garmin app off and on again by double clicking phones home button, and flicking app up to turn off, then starting up by selecting again.

I have the same issue. It is related to the length of the ride, for me it seems as any ride over about 65 miles or so will cause this. My theory is there is a bad gps data point in the record, that Garmin Connect cannot parse.

Try this: connect the 510 to your pc/mac using a USB cable. Then open the Garmin as if it were a storage device, and locate the ride file inside \Garmin\Activities folder. It will be a .fit file. Then upload that file to Strava. This worked for me, which proves the data is there and readable, just that Garmin is having issues with it. I may abandon my garmin as a data archive and go with a 3rd party. Its a shame, because the auto upload is really useful when it works.
