Duplicate swim activities when using Garmin Swim and MyFitnessAppPal integration

I've recently started using a Garmin Swim device to track lap swimming. I've also recently enabled the MyFitnessPal integration from the Garmin Connect dashboard. I'm noticing that my Garmin Connect activity log has duplicate events for each swim activity I upload. One event appears to be from my device with default activity name "Unknown", the other seems to be something coming from MyFitnessPal with activity name "Swimming, leisurely, general - MyFitnessPal". Due to these duplicate activities, the calorie counter in the Calories In/Out dashboard widget is double counting the calories burned for my swim activities. I haven't gone running recently due to a foot injury so I'm not sure if running activities would have the same problem.
