Edge Touring not recognized as USB device anymore

Unfortunately, I removed my Garmin Edge Touring from the PC (Windows 8)
while Garmin Express tried to perform a software update ... ooops.

The Edge Touring itself works as usual,
but the PC does not recognize the Edge Touring as a USB device any more.

Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this problem ?

Thanks,
Egbert
  • You might try plugging it into a different USB port. If that doesn't work, you could try the suggestions on this support page. If none of that helps, I have read a few posts that indicate people have resolved USB issue by cleaning the USB connector on the device with alcohol and letting it dry.

    Try this
    1) Remove the Memory micro SD card
    2) Connect the device to the PC
    3) Wait till it connects
    4) Insert the SD card

Works every time for me. I think it is done to buggy software and a timing issue with the device trying to read the SD card while negotiating the USB interface.

Had the same problem, removing the SD card worked.
    Thanks!
  • Result!. I came across some Garmin files, one called "Webupdater". I clicked onto it and it searched for my gps, identified it (serial number) and then updated some software on it. From there I relaunched Garmin Express; and hey presto! Garmin Express recognised my gps.
