Very Confused about Garmin Connect/MFP Calorie Adjustment

I currently have mfp/connect (vivofit) syncing. I have mfp set at 2020 cals. I typically burn 2500 cals according to vivofit, so if I have eaten 2000 cals without subtracting activity, and vivofit shows I have burned 2500 cals, that leaves me with a deficit of 500 cals, which is exactly what I want. However, gc calorie adjustment adds all those activity calories back in and gives me the 500 calories as activity. Is there a setting I'm missing in gc that allows me to set a calorie deficit? I would love to have it add in whatever is above the 500 calories because I want to eat that back. I must be missing something big.

Sorry for the double post, I think I figured it out but would appreciate confirmation. I had set my activity level at sedentary and maintain weight. I changed it in mfp to accurately reflect my activity level and 1 lb per week loss and garmin adjusted to a lower credit on activity. Cool. Maybe my stupid post will help some other dummy :)
