etrex 20 ascent/descent display problem

Hello- I hate to ask a question such as this but I have scoured the forum and other web sources with no luck. I have an etrex 20 purchased new this year. Have been unable to find any ascent/descent display capability on the device. Editing data fields in maps nor trip computer offers this info as a display option. Creates an elevation profile in tracks but no stats. I have just updated to 3.90 thinking this would fix but no changes to issues mentioned occurred. I have seen a couple of posts from a couple of years ago with problems but the data fields eventually found and displayed by user. Please help. Thanks
