Reporting a segment cheater

What is the process for reporting a user who is obviously cheating on a cycling segment? For example, check the leader board for this uphill segment and look at the leader's speed :

  • Haha. Look at the entire ride. It appears as though he/she jumped into a car after the 1 hour mark. They stopped on the way out Wagg Road and got into a car there. http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/550829185
  • Lol. Heart rate at 36% of max, speed 70 km/hr....................looks like Lance Armstrong visited Ontario!

In any case, I also reported it using the Garmin support email, but it sure would be nice to be able to flag these within Garmin Connect.
  • Well, for what its worth, here is the response from Garmin CS. In essence, we are SOL for a way to deal with segment cheaters..........(by the way, obviously the link is just fine, since it worked for you above).

    Dear xxxxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting Garmin International. The link you provided unfortunately is either invalid or broken. Please make sure that any information you are attempting to share is public and send this again. That being said, there isn't a way to police or patrol segments and segment leaders. If you can provide a functioning link or way to view this segment I would be glad to look into this deeper but cannot promise a resolution for this. The leader of this segment may need to be ignored in this instance.

Let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

  • Depending on how you copied the link when sending it to them, it may have come across as a broken link. It might be worthwhile to send them a short link for the activity (http://tinyurl.com/p2m9wuz) to see how they respond. If they indicate they're having problem accessing the link, sending the activity id (550829185) should be sufficient.
  • In most of my segments, everybody above of me is flagging bike rides as running. Garmin should really do something about this, I don't want to see stupid segments that don't have any worth.

I have also seen one cycling segment leader credited to an activity that is clearly registered as "Motor cycling". This must be an issue for Garmin.

Any standard procedure for having cheaters removed?

    Bump bump
  • 3 years later and there is still nothing on this. Cheaters are taking over a lot of segments which makes Garmin Segments useless.
    Any update?
