Problem uploading GPX files from Strava

Hi all,

I want to upload other people's rides from strava onto my Garmin 510, so that I can follow their rides and discover new trails.

I signed up for Strava premium and downloaded the .gpx files to my Mac, but when I try to manually upload those to garmin connect, it gives me an error message.

Any advice?

The Garmin Connect upload/import functionality is very picky about the data it will accept for upload. It will not allow uploading of course files, only activities. I don't have Strava Premium, so I can't access the gpx data for an activity to look at. If you really want to get the data into Garmin Connect, you should post a link to one of the gpx files and someone here (possibly me) will figure out what you have to change so that the file will upload.

One other important note. If you just want the route/course data on your 510, you don't need to upload it to Garmin Connect at all. You can click the wrench icon when looking at the activity details, and then click Create Route. Save the route, and then view it. When you view the route, there is an Export button. Click that, and a dialog will appear that allows you to download the appropriate file for your device and provides instructions on how to get the file onto your device manually.

It might be worth trying to just put the files on your device using the instructions provided here.

I was able to export from Strava as a GPX file, then import into Garmin Connect courses. Then send to my watch from the mobile app.

I see.

i am getting an error saying „there is a problem uploading the file. Try it again“. Made it on mac os with safari.

You are apparently trying to import a non-activity GPX file on the Data Import page from the top menu. As written there, it serves exclusively for importing activity data files

If you are trying to import a GPX course for navigation, you have to use the import function on the Courses page:
